Architecture projectsXXX - resexifying Amsterdam’s red light district
Studio Anna Torres, Academie van Bouwkunst graduation project 2022By giving back the city to sex workers, XXX is an architectural invitation to rediscover sensuality and intimacy in the historic heart of De Wallen. This spatial proposal alternates intimate courtyards of fresh vegetation, delicate lighting and layers of flowing veilings with new typologies of sex work spaces and breathing spaces for the city.
Designed in sensitive collaboration with the sex work community, XXX invites us to reflect on the role if the designer in our cities’ public space. Who gets to design public space, and who benefits from it?

Erotic Nest - playspace for softer intimacy
Team Hot Space for WHOLE festival, photos: Mark Loopstra, 2025The Erotic Nest is a sensual and intimate adaptation to the traditional darkroom. In between a light touch of thin layers of curtains and a rolling landscape of softness, alluring smells and ambient sounds of music, the space invites intimacy, closeness, sweatiness, and sex.

what happens in the meantime?
WIP is an ambulant system full of life, that travels from gap to gap. It arrives where needed and moves on once its work is done. It offers tenderness for the in-between, a dialogue with the existing, and space for imagination.
